Exceptional Circumstances Surcharge

UPDATED 02/04/2026

Ongoing developments in the Middle East continue to create operational challenges across global aviation, materially increasing the cost of operating air cargo services worldwide.

As a result, an updated Exceptional Circumstances Surcharge will apply to all shipments departing on or after 15th April 2026.

Full surcharge details, including applicable rates by currency, are available on the rates page here.

The surcharge will continue to be calculated based on actual weight and collected via the XD charge code at the point of billing. Please ensure this charge is accurately reflected on the Air Waybill.

This adjustment enables us to maintain the reliability of our network and continue supporting your supply chains during this period of operational uncertainty.

We will continue to closely monitor operating conditions and review the situation regularly.

Booked vs Delivered freight policy

UPDATED 30/03/2026

From 1st April 2026, our new Booked vs Delivered freight policy will come into effect. This policy applies to all bookings over 300kg chargeable weight, excluding Courier and Mail products. Allocation bookings under Blocked Space Agreements (BSA) and Special Capacity Agreements (SCA) are also excluded.

Under this policy, charges may apply where there is a difference between the booked weight and the delivered weight of a shipment. The booked weight will be recorded six hours prior to departure, while the delivered weight will be confirmed at the Ready for Carriage stage.

Where the delivered weight exceeds the booked weight, or falls more than 10% below the booked weight, charges will apply to the variance. A tolerance of up to 10% below the booked weight will be granted.

What this means for you:

Please ensure your booked weight matches your delivered weight. If the weight changes before tender, please update your booking at IAGCargo.com. Updating your booking online is quick and easy, helps us optimise available capacity and supports a smoother acceptance process at origin.
