IAG Cargo launches new Madrid-Monterrey service for the first time, strengthening Latin America connectivity

  • Launching in June: three weekly services between Madrid (MAD) and Monterrey (MTY), and three weekly services between Barcelona (BCN) and Lima (LIM).

  • First direct Madrid - Monterrey service for IAG Cargo creates a new link between Europe and Northern Mexico

  • Additional capacity supports trade flows between Europe and Latin America

IAG Cargo, the cargo division of International Airlines Group (IAG), has announced two new routes, from Madrid to Monterrey and Barcelona to Lima, launching in June, strengthening trade links between Europe and Latin America.

The new three-times-weekly service between Madrid and Monterrey will launch on 2 June 2026. It marks the first time IAG Cargo will directly connect Spain with Northern Mexico, opening up new opportunities for customers moving goods between Europe and one of the region’s most important industrial centres.

Monterrey is a major manufacturing hub, with strong automotive, aerospace and high-tech manufacturing industries, and plays a key role in nearshoring to North America.

The new services forms part of IAG Cargo’s wider summer schedule, with 275 weekly widebody connections from its Spanish hubs to destinations across North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.

Barcelona will also see the launch of a new three-times-weekly service to Lima, launching on 3 June, supporting trade between Spain and Peru, including perishables, pharmaceuticals and other high-value shipments.

Camilo Garcia Cervera, Chief Sales and Marketing Officer, IAG Cargo, said:

“Latin America remains one of the most important regions in global air cargo, with strong and diverse trade flows connecting producers, manufacturers and consumers across continents. These new routes from Madrid and Barcelona expand the reach of our Spanish hubs and reinforce the role of Spain as a key gateway for cargo moving between the region and Europe. The new Madrid-Monterrey service in particular creates a direct link for the first time, supporting trade flows between Europe and Northern Mexico.”

Through its hubs in London, Madrid, Dublin and Barcelona, IAG Cargo provides extensive global connectivity across six continents. London alone offers capacity on more than 700 weekly widebody services, while Dublin provides a key transatlantic gateway with around 100 weekly widebody rotations.

Alongside the expansion of its network, IAG Cargo continues to enhance its portfolio of specialist transportation solutions, including the recently launched AOG service, designed to support the rapid movement of critical aircraft parts.
